A passenger ship has several important operational areas. These include:

Glossary – Important Terms to Navigate the Ship
To help you understand and move around the ship easily, here are some basic terms:
Aft: The area near the ship’s stern, which is at the rear (back) of the ship.
Bow: The front part of the ship.
Bridge: The area, usually located near the bow (front), where the captain and officers control and manage the entire ship.
Cabin (also called Stateroom) : This is your private room on the ship where you sleep and relax.
Decks: These are the different floor levels of the ship, such as the lower deck, middle deck, and upper deck.
Galley: The ship’s kitchen where food is prepared.
Hull: The main body or outer structure of the ship.
Lido Deck: This is the deck where you will usually find the swimming pool along with restaurants, bars, and a fitness center.
Midship: The middle section of the ship.
Port: The left side of the ship when you are facing the bow (front).
Starboard: The right side of the ship when you are facing the bow (front).
Stern: The extreme rear (back) part of the ship.
