Every lifeboat must display permanent identification markings that can be easily recognized during both normal operations and emergency situations.

These markings include:

  1. The maximum number of persons the lifeboat is approved to carry, clearly marked using permanent lettering.
  2. The name and port of registry of the parent ship, displayed on the bow of the lifeboat in block capital letters of the Roman alphabet.
  3. Identification showing the ship to which the lifeboat belongs together with the lifeboat number, positioned so that it remains visible from above during rescue operations.
