Limit Switches

Power-operated gravity davits are equipped with limit switches to control the movement of the davit arms as they return to their fully stowed position.

Normally, each davit arm has its own limit switch. When either switch is activated, it automatically disconnects the electrical power supplied to the operating circuit, preventing the davit arms from travelling beyond their designed limits.

These switches are adjusted so that the davit arms stop approximately 30 centimetres (12 inches) before reaching their final stowed position. The switches remain open until the davit arms move outward beyond the switch operating position, ensuring safe and reliable operation while protecting the launching equipment from mechanical damage.
