Causes of Poisoning

Poisoning during fires is commonly caused by inhaling dangerous combustion products. The most common toxic substances include:

  • Carbon monoxide, which is produced during most fires and is extremely poisonous.
  • Toxic gases and smoke generated by the burning of various materials.

Inhalation of these gases may lead to unconsciousness, respiratory failure, or death if immediate medical attention is not provided.
