Every lifeboat must display permanent identification markings that can be easily recognized during both normal operations and emergency situations.
These markings include:
- The maximum number of persons the lifeboat is approved to carry, clearly marked using permanent lettering.
- The name and port of registry of the parent ship, displayed on the bow of the lifeboat in block capital letters of the Roman alphabet.
- Identification showing the ship to which the lifeboat belongs together with the lifeboat number, positioned so that it remains visible from above during rescue operations.
