Rescue Boat Drills
Where rescue boats are provided separately from lifeboats, they should be launched with their assigned operating crew every month, whenever practicable, and manoeuvred in the water to maintain operational readiness.

At a minimum, rescue boat launching and manoeuvring must be carried out once every three months in accordance with international safety requirements.
If launching drills are conducted while the ship is making way, they should only be carried out in sheltered waters and always under the direct supervision of an experienced officer capable of managing the operation safely.
