The Neil Robertson Stretcher is a specially designed rescue stretcher widely used aboard ships for evacuating injured personnel from confined or difficult-to-access locations.

Unlike ordinary stretchers, the Neil Robertson stretcher is particularly suitable for removing casualties from:

  • Engine rooms
  • Cargo holds
  • Vertical access trunks
  • Machinery spaces
  • Narrow passageways
  • Compartments with restricted hatch openings or ladders

The stretcher is constructed from strong semi-rigid canvas reinforced with wooden slats sewn along its length. This design allows the casualty to be securely wrapped inside the stretcher, providing firm body support while enabling safe vertical lifting through narrow openings.

Its flexibility, strength, and compact design make it one of the most effective rescue stretchers for maritime emergencies where conventional stretchers cannot be used.
