Drills for Wire-Fall Lifeboats
Where wire-fall lifeboats are fitted, special precautions should be observed during launching and recovery exercises.
Crew members directly involved in the drill should remain alert for any potentially hazardous situations and immediately report them to the officer in charge so that corrective measures can be implemented.
Before lowering a lifeboat carrying personnel, it is recommended that the launching system first be tested by lowering and recovering the empty lifeboat to verify that all equipment is functioning correctly.
As an additional safety precaution, only the minimum number of personnel required to operate the lifeboat should remain onboard during launching drills whenever practical.
